"Unsettled"
"Unsettled" is a Role-Oriented Learning Environment designed to take our campers to a new world where they will represent the best of humanity among the stars as Earth's InterStellar Fleet (ISF)!
Participants will learn vital skills and understanding and focus on the adventure as ISF Stewards, will become daring explorers and pave the way as ISF Crew, or bear the mantle of leadership as ISF Officers. Each role provides a different combination of skills and opportunities as campers discover the many Frontiers available at NewLand Camps Project Interstellar summer camp.
Whichever Frontier your camper selects, our summer camp is focused on providing the best S.T.E.A.M.² Education to our young explorers.
Self, Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Media: These six areas are our target for achievement. We want our youth to take away the skills that they need to become more than just an inhabitant of Earth. We want them to become interstellar citizens. This training will prepare them for frontiers of deep space, and for the every day frontiers they face at home, in school, or as part of the wider community.
NewLand Camps makes learning immersive and fun!

S.T.E.A.M.² Explained
Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) have been a hallmark of recent academic efforts in the education system. Yet something is missing from this. Hyperfocus on these four subjects removes much of what it means to be human! Just adding "Arts" to STEM doesn't address this adequately. We need more than one dimensional STEAM.
NewLand Camps take STEM to the next level by introducing STEAM².
STEAM squared recognizes what engages our attention, what motivates us towards our highest potential, and what inspires us to innovate and create: Relationships with friends and colleagues, with understanding, with creativity, with ourselves, and with what interests us! Here is our formula for STEAM²:
Self: -Awareness, -Esteem, -Care, -Love, and how the self and other are both needed to grow
Science: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geology, Cosmology, Astronomy, and many more...
Technology: Computers, Programming, 3D-Printing, the "how-to" of applying science and innovation
Engineering: Design and build machines, buildings and architecture, micro- and mega-structures
Arts: Sculpting, Painting, Graphic Design, Drawing, and other methods of artistic expression
Media: Marketing, News, Social Media...information sciences, political sciences, stories, and communications
Mathematics is a critical, necessary tool for each and every one of these areas ALREADY.
Math is a language of relationships!
STEAM² take the focus off of mathematics and introduces the basic concepts of the mathematics from a linguistic and representational perspective. We teach Math in everything we do! Most importantly, we connect people to the WHY of mathematics for stronger and deeper learning potential.
We use a unique innovation in learning to teach this, our R.O.L.E. Model of Education.
Role-Oriented Learning Environments (our model) teaches people:
-How to learn
-Why learning is important
-How to think critically and creatively
-How to have fun with learning!
-How to collaborate with others
-How to innovate and think outside the box
